A dedicated gutter contractor focuses specifically on the roof-water system at the eaves.
What gutter-specific work involves
- 5-inch versus 6-inch sizing
- Seamless fabrication
- Controlled pitch
- Outlet placement
- Downspout quantity and size
- K-style and half-round profiles
- Gutter guards
- Fascia interaction
- Final drainage/discharge
Should gutters be replaced with a new roof?
Sometimes. A roof replacement is a logical time to inspect gutters because the drip edge, fascia and roof drainage system interact. But a functioning gutter system does not automatically need replacement simply because the roof is new.
When combining roof and gutter work makes sense
If the fascia, drip-edge relationship or roof edge is being rebuilt during a roofing project, coordinating the gutter installation can simplify the sequence. The gutter crew can work from a finished, sound mounting surface and the downspout plan can be considered before the exterior work is complete.
When keeping the existing gutters makes sense
If the current gutters are correctly sized, securely attached and draining well, there may be no reason to replace them simply because shingles are being replaced. They can be protected or temporarily removed where the roofing scope requires access.
Why a gutter specialist can be useful
A gutter-focused company can evaluate the system independently and recommend repair, replacement, resizing or drainage changes based on the gutter system itself.
