Downspout installation, repair, resizing, relocation and extensions to move roof runoff away from vulnerable areas.

A gutter can only move water as fast as its outlets and downspouts

Downspouts are often the bottleneck in an otherwise adequate gutter system. Size, quantity, location and where the water ends up all matter, especially on long runs and at roof valleys.

What we look at

  • Outlet size and quantity
  • Downspout size and routing
  • Elbows that restrict flow
  • Long gutter runs with too few drops
  • Final discharge near foundations, walks or neighboring property

Options and related work

Work can include new downspouts, larger drops, relocation, extensions, elbows and coordination with drainage solutions where roof runoff needs to be carried farther away.

FAQ

Questions about Downspouts & Extensions

How do I know whether I need gutter repair or replacement?

Small leaks, loose outlets or isolated hanger failures can often be repaired. Widespread corrosion, repeated seams opening, long sections pulling away, poor pitch or an undersized system often make replacement the better long-term option.

Are 6-inch gutters better than 5-inch gutters?

Not automatically. Six-inch gutters provide more capacity and can make sense on larger or steeper roof areas, long runs, valleys and homes that regularly overwhelm smaller systems. The right size depends on roof geometry and downspout layout.

Do you work with copper and half-round gutters?

Yes. Gutters Only is structured to quote standard seamless aluminum systems as well as premium copper and half-round configurations where the architecture and budget call for them.

Do gutter guards eliminate gutter cleaning?

Guards can reduce the amount of debris entering a gutter, but they do not make every system maintenance-free. Roof debris, small particles and the guard surface itself may still need periodic attention.

Why do my gutters overflow even when they look clean?

Overflow can come from undersized gutters, too few outlets, blocked downspouts, poor pitch, concentrated roof valleys or water moving past the gutter edge. A drainage assessment should look at the whole roof-water path.
