Small-job pricing is where per-foot math can be misleading. A contractor still has to mobilize a truck, gutter machine, crew and equipment, fabricate the run, install downspouts and clean up.
Gutters Only standalone-job planning range
For Gutters Only, many standalone 40-foot installations would be expected to fall around $1,250–$1,500 minimum, depending on height, downspouts and difficulty.
When 40 feet can price closer to the normal per-foot rate
If the 40 feet is added to a larger project that is already mobilized, the incremental price can be much closer to the normal per-foot calculation.
Why the downspout count matters on a short job
Forty feet of gutter may still need one or more complete downspout assemblies with outlets, elbows and extensions. Those components do not shrink proportionally with gutter footage, so a short project can carry a higher effective per-foot price.
Example: porch or addition versus full standalone run
If 40 feet is being added while a crew is already installing gutters on the rest of the house, mobilization is already covered and the extra footage can price more normally. If the same 40 feet is the entire job, the truck and crew still have to be dispatched for that single scope.
